Overview

The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement for the Incas Its pleasant climate and fertile lands make a perfect combination for the development of flora and fauna This was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to fruit trees and tropical lowland plants. The Sacred Valley has an altitude of 2,800 meters and combines the charm of the beautiful landscape with very important Inca archaeological complexes.

Itinerary

Day 1

Chinchero-Moray- Salineras- & Aguas Calientes

After being picked up from your hotel at 9:00 am, we will head to Chinchero. Then, our first visit will be to the archaeological center full of well-preserved Inca altars. Then, our next visit will be to the Textile Center for the introduction and learning experience of the art of Andean textiles. Chinchero weavers will guide you through a step-by-step process of the ancient science of Andean weaving as it was done before the Incas.

Our next stop is Moray and its panoramic terraces of concentric rings. This beautiful place has been shown to be an experimentation center to understand the different temperatures of different crops or agricultural plants, perhaps even used for the domestication of different vegetables.

Afterwards, we will descend towards the Maras salt mines, a vital production center that dates back to pre-Inca times. Likewise, there are more than 3,000 salt pools dug into the mountainside, which are filled daily with water seeping from the Earth.

Day 2

Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After having a delicious breakfast we will go to the bus station to take the buses to the majestic Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as “The Crystal Condor”. After a 25 minute bus ride to Machu Picchu, where we will have to present the entry tickets with your passport.

Your tour guide will take you to the best views and the best-known places that this beautiful place has. The guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours. You will also have moments of connection. Since in the time of the Incas this place was considered one of the most important and spiritual.

At the end of the visit we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Finally, a private bus will take you back to Cusco and back to your hotel.

If you are thinking of hiking to the Huayna Picchu mountain or the Machupicchu mountain, you will have to reserve your tickets well in advance.
