Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco – Lares – Huaca Wasi

We pick you up from your hotel at 6 am, we will pass through the towns of Calca and then we can visit the archaeological complex Humanmarca a small pre-Inca citadel where we can observe spectacular (terrace, temple and Inca streets), then we continue to the valley of Lares where you will have your first breakfast accompanied by incredible views of the Andes mountain ranges. Then, you can enjoy the thermal baths, which are made up of several pools ranging from cold to boiling, are composed of purely volcanic water, is considered good for bones, stress, muscles and headaches. Afterwards we will have lunch and also meet our muleteers and horses to carry our backpacks.

Then we will start a 3 hour hike in which the guide will explain us about textiles, livestock, agriculture, cultivation of many varieties of organic potatoes and medicinal plants, in this hike we can see many alpacas, vicuña and the most impressive of the “Andean house decorations”. Then we arrive at Huaca Wasi camp (3770 m.a.s.l.), the guide will accompany us to the village and visit some local homes, where you will learn about the lifestyle and ancient traditions of the local people.

Day 2

Huaca Wasi – Huaca Punku – Mantanay – Yanahuara

You will wake up at approximately 6:00 am, with our coca tea service. After our breakfast we will continue walking for 3 hours to Huacarpunku where we can observe a waterfall (compound) the views are breathtaking. You will see lakes, waterfalls, llamas and alpacas. We will have an emergency horse to ride in case you are tired. Then we will start our descent to the lunch point where we will pass by two lagoons (first lagoon called Auro Q’ocha where we can see birds of the area and the second lagoon Yurac Q’ocha (3600 m.a.s.l.) where you can enjoy lunch. Maybe there will be llamas grazing nearby, after lunch you will descend through a forest of Q’euñas until you reach Yanahuara (3400 m.a.s.l.) there our tents will be waiting for us.

Day 3

Yanahuara – Mirador de Yanahuara – Ollantaytambo

We will wake up approximately 7 in the morning, after breakfast we continue walking downhill, along this trail, we will be able to see the preparation of chicha, taste if you wish the delicious Inca chicha and will pass by fruit trees and begin to feel the changes of the micro-climate and begin to see the crops that are different from in the high mountains. Around the sacred valley people farm corn, quinoa, peaches, avocados and other types of fruits. We continue with the ascent to the viewpoint of Yanahuara where we can see the impressive sacred valley, then descend to have our lunch with our mountain chef and say goodbye because we will board the bus where we will transfer to Ollantaytambo to take the train at 12.58 pm to Aguas Calientes for two hours to the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 4

Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

The most magical day because we will finally visit Machu Picchu, we wake up very early to take the first buses 5.30 in the morning, where our guide will explain for two hours in the Inca citadel, then, you will have time to explore on your own and take pictures. In the afternoon, we will take a two-hour train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by the bus back to Cusco at your hotel.
